Artist and writer Oriane Stender’s diverse influences include Pop, folk, and outsider art; textiles; and the political and visual culture of her childhood in San Francisco and Berkeley in the 1960s and ‘70s. Her work is in the collection of Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and Federal Reserve Board, among others, and she has written features for Hyperallergic and Artnet News. Grants and residencies include Artadia, California Arts Council, and Millay Colony. She lives in Brooklyn and has been called “the secret love-child of Anni Albers and Andy Warhol.”
