Concert - Forbbiden Music "In Memoriam" (Foyer de l'Opéra, Marseille)

Within the framework of Manifesta 13, Musiques Interdits was invited by the Nancy B Negley residency program to participate in a week-long residency at the Hôtel de Tingry and to create in partnership with the American Gallery of Marseille for their exhibition “Disobey orders Save the Artists” a work, a lyrical epitaph by Jan MEYEROWITZ …Composer born in 1913 and interned at the Camp des Milles where he composed an unpublished song on a poem by René Char.

At the same time in June 1940 a contingent of 44 Senegalese riflemen was massacred in Clamecy by the German army. Meyerowitz was saved by Varian FRY and a network of intellectuals including Pierre GUERRE to whom he dedicated his song. Basic song for this IN MEMORIAM Dedicated to all the victims and all the courage.
