Event Details

Dora Maar Cultural Center and the NYC-based Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company are excited to present the World Premiere of Framing Ménerbes, filmed exclusively in Ménerbes. The film, by choreographer, dancer and filmmaker Daniel Gwirtzman, a Fellow in both 2024 and 2016, celebrates the beauty of dance and the beauty of the village. Several participants from the region joined Daniel as performers in the feature-length film.

Says Daniel:  “I was given a huge gift and I ran with it, following the sun’s trajectory and exploiting it to shoot. Days were long because the days were long. I was up before the sun rose and after it sunk late at night trying to capture the far-reaching vistas and the light for which it is known. Framing Ménerbes is the result of this. The excitement of this natural magic undergirds the film.”

Daniel, celebrating thirty years as a New York City artist and company director in 2025,  took each photograph and shot each frame of the film, highlighting, as he has often said, the dancer who has been with him the longest, himself! Join us for this special night before its US premiere in New York City on June 26.
