Born into a family of Amazigh Jews from southern Morocco who had to leave their country because of rising intolerance, Benjamin has dedicated his life to advancing social justice. His fiction writing is inspired by his political activism. He explores the transgenerational impacts of migration and of trauma in places ranging from Rwanda to France and Ukraine, and experiences of domination and of liberation with a particular focus on underrepresented voices, especially those of women. His short stories have been published in Fiction International, The Massachusetts Review and in The other side of hope literary magazines. Benjamin is currently working on the testimonies of his Morocco-born family members whom he has interviewed, to turn them into stories. His non-fiction work has been featured in The Guardian, Le Monde, La Repubblica, El Pais, Die Zeit, Le Soir, The Sunday Times, Die Welt, Corriere della Sera, The Stanford Social Innovation Review, and elsewhere.
