The Dora Maar Cultural Center is pleased to present the first exhibition of Afghan-Canadian artist Hangama Amiri in France. Hangama Amiri works predominantly in textiles to examine notions of home, as well as how gender, social norms, and larger geopolitical conflict impact the daily lives of women, both in Afghanistan and in the diaspora.

28/06 – COMMUNITY DAY AT HÔTEL DE TINGRY : BAZAAR SENTIMENTAL
10 AM – 12 PM – WORKSHOP | by reservation to intern@maisondoramaar.org
In conjunction with Hangama Amiri’s exhibition, Hôtel de Tingry will open its doors for a special workshop led by visual artist Sylvette Ardoino. Participants are invited to use fabrics and various recycled materials to create their own BAZAAR SENTIMENTAL, and respond to the portraits, flowers, objects, furniture, etc. depicted in Amiri’s textile pieces.
3 PM – 5 PM – OPEN BAZAAR!
In the afternoon, the BAZAAR continues in an open format that will allow curious visitors of all ages to freely experiment with materials, colors, and patterns to create their own mulimedia piece inspired by the exhibition.
Practical information
Materials provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own small fabric pieces, or photos, with or without sentimental value.
