Jazz @ Tingry Christophe Leloil/Robert Clearfield Duo

Two men, two instruments, two countries… One playground: jazz. Rob Clearfield, a Chicago-born pianist who cut his teeth with jazz talents such as Makaya McCraven, Patricia Barber and Itamar Borochov, on the one hand, and trumpeter Christophe Leloil from Normandy, who shares the stage with the likes of Archie Shepp, Raphaël Imbert and Famoudou Don Moye, on the other, have a fruitful dialogue. The two met in Marseille, and certain values quickly drew them together: their shared love of a tradition that is not set in stone, the audacity to think that they can put it back into play, an obvious melodic sensitivity, and between them, that something called feeling. Between reworked standards and original compositions, the shadow of Chet Baker and Bill Evans sometimes passes, and the magic happens.
