Jihane Chouaïb

Jihane Chouaib is a French-Lebanese writer and director. Born in Beirut during the civil war, she grew up in Mexico as an exile – a childhood steeped in nostalgia, anti-colonial politics and « realismo magico ». As a director, she explores different genres from fantasy to documentary, guided by the importance of feeling, sensuality, poetry. Chouaib promotes strong and non-conforming female characters. Her two feature films are shot in Lebanon with European coproduction: Dream Country in 2012, and Go Home, starring Golshifteh Farahani, in 2016.
