William Middleton, a Paris-based cultural writer, is the author of Double Vision, the first biography of Franco-American art patrons and collectors Dominique and John de Menil (Alfred A. Knopf). ARTnews named the de Menil biography one of the best art books of the decade. As a journalist, Middleton is the former Paris Bureau Chief of W Magazine and Women’s Wear Daily and Fashion Features Director for Harper’s Bazaar. He has written for the New York Times, T, Vogue, Esquire, Texas Monthly, Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, System, Christie’s, and Gagosian Quarterly. Middleton is currently at work on a cultural biography of Karl Lagerfeld (to be published next year by HarperCollins).
