A conversation, at the foot of the Provençal jasmines, under an amber sun, between artists and great souls. Will it really take place? During an imaginary lunch together, Dora Maar observes the world, Nicolas de Staël rests his brushes, Joe Downing smells the air of Provence, Jane Eakin listens to nature. A timeless dialogue following four great artists of the 20th century in Ménerbes echoes the artists in residence at the Dora Maar House. La Mob, conceived for interdisciplinary artistic dialogues across time and space, brings together from May 27 to September 30, 2022, painters Joe Downing, Jane Eakin, Dora Maar and Nicolas de Staël, like old friends sharing a lunch in the shade of the Provençal pines – an exchange of words, a look at works that resonate with each other.
Please join us for the opening on Friday, May 27th at 5PM.
La Mob is open everyday from 11AM-1PM and 2-6PM.
Time
May 27 (Friday) - September 30 (Friday)

Event Details
La Vie en Soie II is an exhibition of recent works by textile artist Joanna Staniszkis. Her works present conceptually driven interrogations around the rich history of silk production in the Luberon.
The 18th century Hotel de Tingry, provides the theatrical setting for Joanna’s artistic exploration. In each room we travel through the history of the luxurious thread, to encounter its contradictions and transformations. From the rough land of the mistral comes the smoothest thread, the greatest luxury begins with the mysterious humble silk worm. Joanna weaves a tale that has both exquisite beauty and tragic ends.
Over her long career as a textile artist, Staniszkis has received numerous awards and honors, including the Sadie Bronfman Award from the Canada Council for the Arts.
The exhibition is complemented by a photo essay of Canadian artist, Deborah MacNeill. Her work pays homage to the ancient mulberry trees of the Luberon, the still standing relics of the silk’s glorious past.
The exhibition is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 11AM-1PM and 2-6PM or by appointment by contacting 04 90 72 54 70, mmercurio@maisondoramaar.org
