The DMCC is pleased to open its 2026 season with a major exhibition by Guadeloupean artist Françoise Sémiramoth. Sémiramoth’s work traces an intimate geography: from Guadeloupe to Marseille, via Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Los Angeles, and Williamstown. Each stop has left an indelible mark on her art. Her stay at the Dora Maar House in March 2022 acted as a catalyst, nourishing her practice with decisive encounters and discoveries.
At the heart of her approach lies a passionate exploration of color. The works presented at La Mob illustrate a major evolution: the fusion of her chromatic research with a line work that captures the very essence of places. Sémiramoth’s work is also a work of memory and dialogue. Her art resonates particularly with the words of the great Guadeloupean author Maryse Condé (1934-2024). Through her paintings, Sémiramoth seems to extend Condé’s narratives, weaving an unbreakable link between the visual arts and the power of Caribbean literature.
Frauke V. Josenhans, curator of the exhibition.
From March 19 to May 24, 2026 at La Mob Gallery, Maison Dora Maar (58 rue du Portail Neuf, Ménerbes).
Opening in presence of the artist : March 19th at 6PM.
La Mob opening hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 11AM-1PM / 2PM-6PM (free entry).
